When using the Chinese calendar, years are grouped within a 12-year cycle which is called the 12 Earthly branches. Each cycle year corresponds to an animal of the Chinese zodiac. The order is: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
