Sorting Figures
We are working on classifying (grouping) figures based off of their attributes. Below is a sample from our sort on quadrilaterals. If students want to practice this at home, they need to first select a sorting "rule" based on the attributes used to sort figures.

HTHT
Parents:
Our kiddos had an amazing time at our science High Touch, High Tech presentations this week. Our students enjoyed Cosmic Capers, which was a perfect addition to our Solar System research. We got to launch rockets, make "Alien Sneeze", test our moon leaping abilities, and try a human gyroscope. We are thankful to PTA for scheduling this for us!

Study those facts!
Don't forget to continue to study those multiplication (and division) facts! Once you know them accurately, keep studying to increase speed. Below are some tools for home:
There are many ways for students to practice their
multiplication facts:
·
Good old Flash cards are often the best! (See
below for a link to print out some or there are usually some at the Dollar
Stores around)
·
counting by number patterns or multiples (2, 4,
6, 8, 10, etc…) This is also called skip counting.
·
adding on to already known answers
(example: I know that 5 x 6 = 30 so one more set of 6 would be 6 x 6 =
36)
·
using related facts ( I know that 4 x 6 = 24 so
that means that 6 x 4 also equals 24)
·
repeated addition (2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8 which
means that 4 groups of 2 = 8)
·
visualize an array (rows times columns)
·
partial products
·
use practice drill sheets at home with your
child writing the answer
·
computer programs or websites such as any fast
fact practice game. Try Xtramath.org
·
Start with x0, then x1, then x2, x4 (doubles of
x2), then x5 (easy), x10, then back to x3, x6 (double of x3), x7, x8, and
finally x9. Chunk the practice a little at a time so your child will feel
confident!
